Hawaii Materials Recycling is located in central Kihei and is committed to being a state-of-the-art, inert materials recycling facility, that provides the community of Maui a recycling solution to divert materials from landfill disposal, while producing construction materials at the best rates possible and we are looking to grow our team.
POSITION SUMMARY:
Scale operator position is best suited for someone who is equally successful as a self-starter and as part of a team.
This position consists of a range of clerical and operational duties.
Understanding of inert material production is a plus! Responsible for operating the weigh scales, scale computer and software programs, data entry, cashier duties and record keeping for operations and permits.
This position is also responsible for screening and recording incoming loads, direct vehicles entering and leaving the facility and preform spotter duties when required.
A scale master certification is required and can be obtained once position is filled.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The duties include but are not limited to: provide prompt and courteous service to customers, weighing trucks by recording all information in a computerized weighing system, radio communication with loader operator, answering calls and emails, general product sales, coordinating delivery of material when needed, collecting money through POS system, running reports, managing material inventory, collecting and reviewing manifest, generating clearance numbers, sampling incoming materials, filing permitted material, logging man and equipment hours, maintaining order and housekeeping of the scale and scale house.
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
•Strong computer skills with proficiency in MS Word, Excel.
•Experience with Scale house software a plus.
•Knowledge of Civil Construction and inert material a plus.
•Meets commitments, works independently, accepts accountability, handles change, sets personal standards,
stays focused under pressure, and meets attendance/punctuality requirements.
•Communicates well both verbally and in writing in order to convey information effectively and efficiently, shares information and ideas with others and has good listening skills.
•Responsible for addressing customer needs and ensuring they receive accurate information in person, over
the phone and through email.
•Thoroughness and attention to detail in accomplishing tasks.
•Deals with others in a respectful, ethical and honest manner, is accountable for actions and supports company
values.
•Ability to organize and plan how to use one’s time effectively and efficiently by prioritizing tasks.
•Breaks down problems into smaller components, understands underlying issues, can simplify and process
complex issues, understands the difference between critical details and unimportant facts, make decisions
and develop solutions.
