) Plans, directs, and coordinates the operation, maintenance, installation, and repair of all water treatment plants, stations, and related facilities in the County of Maui; and performs other related duties as required.
Distinguishing Characteristics: This class is distinguished by its overall administrative responsibility for the operation, maintenance, installation, and repair of all water treatment plants and related facilities and equipment.

Plans, directs, and reviews all divisional programs relating to design construction, operation, and maintenance of facilities, equipment, and systems.
Develops long and short term objectives pertaining to all facets of the treatment facilities, telecommunications and combined radio communications/SCADA systems of the division.
Directs the conduct of analytical and water quality studies.
Confers with engineers, architects, and contractors on the design and construction of capital improvement projects.
Develops plans and work priorities to meet EPA and DOH water quality standards.
Directs the implementation of preventive maintenance programs and operational practices.
Directs the conduct of analytical studies to ascertain the effectiveness of such practices and programs.
Manages the construction of new treatment plants.
Prepares annual division budget.
