*_ Regular, Full-Time, RCUH Non-Civil Service position with the Maui High Performance Computing Center (MHPCC), Department of Defense High Performance Computing Modernization Program’s “Vanguard Center for High Performance Computing”, located at the Maui Research and Technology Park (MRTP) in Maui, Hawai‘i.
This position will conduct research under the University of Hawai‘i Applied Research Laboratory (ARL) Task Orders.
Continuation of employment is dependent upon program/operational needs, satisfactory work performance, availability of funds, and compliance with applicable Federal/State laws.
*MONTHLY SALARY RANGE:* $4,500 - $7,095/Mon.
*DUTIES: *Responsible for providing facility and maintenance related work at the VCHPC facilities.
Proactively identifies facilities maintenance needs.
Responds to facilities requests promptly using the maintenance work order system; work orders are accurately inputted, scheduled, closed, and tracked with communication to the requestor.
Inspects building structures to determine the need for repairs or renovations.
Assists with addressing after-hour emergencies as needed.
Performs general custodial activities; maintains buildings and adjacent grounds areas in a clean and orderly condition.
Picks up the paper and other debris from grounds, walkways, and areas adjacent to facilities; sweeps concrete surfaces adjacent to the building; sets rodent traps as directed.
Moves and arranges furniture and equipment; sets up facilities for special events and meetings; assists in installing, maintaining, and repairing cabinets, bookcases, and various classroom equipment; prepares various surfaces for painting and apply paint as directed.
Assists with performing a variety of unskilled and semi-skilled duties to maintain and repair facilities and equipment involving plumbing, painting, grounds, carpentry, and electrical work; refers major repairs to appropriate personnel.
Locks and unlocks doors and gates as directed; maintains the security of assigned areas according to established guidelines.
*PRIMARY QUALIFICATIONS:* *EDUCATION* Associate’s Degree from an accredited community college or university.

equivalent and at least one (1) year of related work experience equivalent to the job duties and has acquired the skills necessary to perform all job duties may substitute for an Associate’s Degree.

*EXPERIENCE* One to three (1-3) years of experience in experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
*KNOWLEDGE* Understanding of facility maintenance, engineering, safety, sanitation/cleanliness, furnishing and equipment management, space assignment and arrangement, grounds and landscaping maintenance, and attendant functions.
Knowledge of Federal/State Occupational Safety and Health Law.
Knowledge of emergency/disaster/recovery plans.
Knowledge of safe operation of active electro-mechanical and energized high voltage utility systems.
*ABILITIES & SKILLS* Must be a U.
S.
Citizen, a requirement of the Government security investigation to meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
Proven experience as facilities manager or relevant position.
Well-versed in technical/engineering operations and facilities management best practices.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.
Ability to manage internal and external relationships (e.
g.
, vendors, contractors).
Good analytical/critical thinking.
Ability to use PC and Microsoft Office Suite of tools.
Post offer/Employment Condition: Must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance based on a tier-3 background investigation to access classified information.
Must complete the online Hazard Communication training immediately after hire or no later than employee’s initial exposure to hazardous chemicals.
Must be able to complete the Office of Research Compliance (ORC) General Biosafety training within six (6) months from date of hire.
Must be able to complete the UH Information Security Awareness Training (ISAT) within two (2) weeks from date of hire, and re-certify every twelve (12) months.
*PHYSICAL/MEDICAL DEMANDS* Medium physical effort requiring full range of motion.
Requires handling, including the lifting and carrying of objects and equipment weighing up to fifty (50) pounds unassisted.
Must be able to climb ladders, and stairs.
Must be able to work in small (three to four (3-4) foot) crawl spaces as well as in confined, poorly ventilated work areas.

*SECONDARY QUALIFICATIONS:* Associate’s Degree from an accredited college or university in Facility Management, Engineering, Business Administration or relevant field.
