Director of Teaching and Learning
DESCRIPTION
The Director of Teaching and Learning (DTL) works closely with the Head of School to foster the development of and preserve the authenticity of our philosophical and pedagogical approaches to Montessori education.
As an active member of the Administrative team, the DTL supports the educational and philosophic integrity of the school by providing curricular support, guidance, and leadership to guides/teachers at all programmatic levels and school-wide.
QUALIFICATIONS The Director of Teaching and Learning (DTL) will have leadership and organizational skills as well as an ability to convey in actions and words a comprehensive educational vision that is consistent with the school’s mission and Montessori philosophy.
The DTL reports directly to the Head of School and meets the following qualifications.
Bachelors Degree required, Masters Degree preferred
Montessori credentials at most or all levels served by the school, ideally including Elementary § Minimum 6 years Montessori Lead Teaching experience
Excellent communication and community-building skills
An ability to articulate the importance of stewardship, with tangible evidence of his/her ability to foster continuity and momentum within a program to support a strong relationship between school health and culture.
Administrative and/or supervisory experience is preferred
Experience working with children with various learning differences
An eagerness to support families in their own development as it relates to child-rearing and school’s mission, values, and pedagogical practice
Montessori School of Maui (MOMI) is an independent, non-profit school located on a beautiful 9-acre campus in upcountry
