*Job Description for the Director of Golf Operations*
*Purpose of Position:*
The Director of Golf Operations position at Maui Country Club aims to lead and manage all facets of Golf Operations, fostering positive relationships with club members, associates, and the community.
With a focus on achieving maximum member satisfaction and optimizing financial performance, this role plays a pivotal part in ensuring the smooth functioning and success of the club's golf activities.
*Essential Duties:* · Responsible for robust golf & retail/merchandise programs including implementation, procurement, inventory control, maintenance, and marketing.
· Develops, implements, and is responsible for annual budget, revenue goals and expenses for operations departments.
· Provides timely and accurate reporting of all financial and non-financial information as directed, requested, or required by management or Board of Directors.
· Monitors monthly and other financial reports/statements on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis for the facility and takes effective corrective action when necessary.
· Develops, maintains, and administers sound organizational and preventative maintenance plans and initiates improvements as necessary.
· Maintains membership with the PGA and other professional associations.
Attends workshops and meetings to keep abreast of current information and developments.
· Oversees the care and maintenance of all the facilities physical assets.
· Maintains a professional relationship with golf course residents.
· Designs, coordinates, markets, and implements programs designed to promote the facility’s services, events, activities, classes, and lessons to all members, inclusive of weekly contributions to the club newsletter.
· Implements and enforces policies and procedures for the golf course.
· Understands the Club’s By-Laws, House Rules, Employee Handbook, Department of Liquor Laws, Department of Health Rules, Timekeeping, and any other Federal & State Regulations and Laws pertaining to the Club operations.
· Responsible for interviewing, hiring, training, planning, assigning, and directing work, evaluating performance, rewarding, and disciplining/terminating associates; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
· Assures that effective orientation and training are given to each new member and associates.
· Develops ongoing training programs.
· Regular and reliable attendance.
· Attends and participates in the Golf & Greens Committee Meetings.
*Education/Experience:* · Bachelor’s degree (BA); or four to six years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience including a minimum of 3 years of experience as Director of Golf or Head Golf Professional and a minimum of 2 years of experience with merchandising, ordering, purchasing, and inventory management.
*Physical Demands:* · Ability to lift and carry heavy objects, equipment, and supplies, up to 50 pounds.
· Stamina and endurance to perform physical tasks for extended periods, including standing, walking, bending, and kneeling.
Occasionally climbs or balances; stoops, kneels, crawls or crouches.
Frequently uses hands; reaches with hands and arms.
Frequently talks or hears, tastes or smells.
· Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination for operating tools and equipment safely and effectively.
· Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, wind, and sun exposure.
· Agility and balance to navigate uneven terrain and work safely at heights, such as on ladders or elevated platforms.
· Visual acuity and depth perception for inspecting grounds, identifying hazards, and performing detailed tasks.
· Auditory perception to respond to verbal instructions and environmental cues in a busy Club setting.
· Respiratory health to tolerate exposure to dust, pollen, and other airborne particles common in outdoor environments.
· Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and responsibilities as needed.
*Certificates/Licenses:* · Class A member of PGA/LPGA *Job Knowledge, Skill, and Ability Preferences:* · Ability to read and speak English is required in order to perform the duties of the job.
· Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
· Experience with computerized POS and tee time system.
· Experience utilizing Tournament Software · Expert knowledge of the game of golf, rules of golf, golf facility operations and tournament operations.
· Strong organizational, planning and prioritization skills.
