POSITION SUMMARY
Provides direct supervision of a group of young children (ages 3 months – 12 years old) in a group or individual setting.
Provides a quality experience to children and parents focused on YMCA core values: Honesty, respect, responsibility, and caring.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
1.
Supervises a group of children in a preschool setting
2.
Establish and enforce rules of behavior for children
3.
Provides basic needs for children
4.
Provide tools and resources for children to use and explore during learning and play activities
5.
Manage daily activities including lessons, play, breaks and snacks
6.
Maintain a clean and tidy room
7.
Collaborate with Kids Club Coordinator to implement lesson plans
8.
Always provide appropriate supervision for children
9.
Facilitate various activities for children including songs, games, and storytelling
10.
Cleaning interactive areas throughout the day
11.
Organizing activities and developing curriculum for older children
12.
Observing children and taking notes of any problematic behavior
13.
Attends staff meetings and trainings
14.
Follows YMCA policies and procedures, including those related to medical and disciplinary situations, child abuse prevention and emergencies
15.
Maintains positive relations with parents and other staff.
Models’ relationship-building skills in all interactions
16.
Be sensitive to each child’s needs and provide guidance toward positive human development
17.
Develop and maintain positive relationships with children and parents
18.
Instruct children in a variety of activities with enthusiasm
19.
Be on time for work and meetings
20.
Attend all general and site staff meetings and training sessions and give input.
Be open to criticism, suggestions and training from other staff
21.
Prepare and submit lesson plans on time as requested by the Membership Coordinator
22.
Take initiative to research and develop new creative activities to enhance overall program
23.
Assume responsibility for all facilities, equipment and supplies of the site
24.
Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
1.
Certifications: CPR, Basic First Aid
2.
Completion of the following trainings: Child Abuse Sexual Prevention, Safe Lifting, School Aged Child, Appropriate Touch, Harassment Prevention and First Aid
3.
At least 18 years of age.
4.
Patience and the ability to communicate with all ages and levels of students, parents and caregivers, and other Y staff and volunteers
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Ability to plan, lead and participate in a range of activities in a variety of outdoor/indoor settings
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: From $15.
00 per hour
