dba Malama I Ke Ola Health Center is a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) and a fully integrated behavioral health, dental, and primary care system.
Our 100+ professionals and providers serve the people of Maui at three clinics—two locations in Wailuku and one in Lahaina.
We have behavioral health providers who partner with the primary care clinicians to assist in a vast number of activities including warm handoffs for acute behavioral health crisis management, substance abuse counseling, tobacco cessation counseling, chronic disease self management counseling, and long-term individual and family therapy.
We have been serving the Maui community since 1993.
Since 2015, we have served over 11,000 patients of which 97% are living at or below 200% of the Federal poverty level.

Medical Assistant - Adult Medicine:
The Medical Assistant :is a vital member of the clinical team and works with the other providers and staff to deliver patient care in accordance with nationally accepted guidelines, policies and procedures to achieve the health center’s goals and objectives in delivering exceptional care to our patient.
Work locations: Ooka Wailuku health center and may be assigned to the Lahaina or Wailuku satellite health centers as needed.
This is a full-time position.

This position will perform administrative tasks as well as medical assistance.
- Room the patient by taking vital signs, doing appropriate assessments, checking medications and patient history, documenting patient complaint.
- Schedule appointments for follow ups.
- Verify insurance eligibility and collect co-payments/payments.
- Schedule referrals for mammograms and specialists.
- Complete Prior Authorizations to QUEST and insurance companies.
- Route phone calls and refill requests to the provider via EMR (Electronic Medical Records).
- Track referrals and diagnostics tests for completion.
- Does quality control checks as assigned.
- Stock exam rooms, advises nurse manager of stock needs.
- Administrative and computer tasks as assigned.
- Complete CLIA Waived lab tests and documenting the results in the EMR and recognizing abnormal results.
- Monitor flow of patients for efficiency and checks to make sure who has checked in for the day.
- Follow standing orders for protocols such as Diabetes and preventive protocols;
- Deliver visual acuity testing, hearing tests, diabetes foot exams, EKGs, and assists providers with procedures.
- Administer immunizations and other injectables.
- Assist with dressing changes.
Education:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Completion of a medication administration course, required upon hire, or within six months of employment.
Experience:
- Minimum of one year experience working as a Medical Assistant, preferred.
Requirements:
TB Clearance within the past 12 months
Valid Driver License
Access to an insured vehicle
BLS CPR
COVID-19 vaccination or ability to provide acceptable medical or religious exemption
