Job Summary:
Under minimal supervision, directs the operations and strategic planning of patients/customers services, human resources, and financial management for the Surgical Service Line.
Assists with program development pursuing opportunities consistent with the business plan and operational support needs with the participation and support of the Chief Operating Officer.
Prepares and assists with regulatory reviews, ensuring compliance and adherence to hospital and departmental policies, objectives and operational procedures by department heads.
Collaborates with Administrative, Nursing, Surgeons, Proceduralist, Medical staff and Financial Leadership.
The position participates in strategic planning, preparing new grant and contract proposals, conducting process improvement projects, and day to day operational activities.
This position works and collaborates closely with other Maui Health Departments.
Essential Responsibilities: Provides fiscal oversight of the Perioperative services together with the Director of Surgery and is directly responsible for the day to day and future financial management, planning, and execution.
Collaborates with departmental managers, budget analysts, finance staff, other business managers, external benchmarking sources, and any other appropriate resources to compare costs and identify opportunities to reduce expenses and/or increase revenue.
Oversees the development, implementation, and operation of systems to manage all business transactions and negotiations as appropriate that ensure the proper, efficient collection, and expenditure of all funds.
Operates Department/Division within allocated budget and/or provides well documented justification of workload/census demands requiring a budget adjustment.
Establishes measurements to monitor the financial health of the Department and individual strategic Divisions.
Ensures the Department bills appropriately for the services it provides and operates within its budget.
Works with all Maui Health departments to resolve financial, business, legal, and operational issues.
Provides administrative support to Departmental growth strategies.
Reviews and confirms compliance with all Department, agency, and governmental policies and procedures.
Where policies do not exist, this position introduces, creates, updates, and implements new policies.
Anticipates and effectively manages market, customer, or social trends that could enhance the organizations opportunities or adversely impact business results.

Serves as a strategic partner with Department Managers to determine priorities, goals, and objectives of the Department or individual Divisions.
Works with leaders and key staff to develop, implement, and review short- and long-range operating objectives.
Manages team responsible for reviewing, approving, and submitting all Department grant submissions to ensure timely submission and alignment with Department goals and strategic plan.
Ability to set goals and judge results in accordance with the highest standards: care with sensitivity and respect: advance care through development of new ideas and technology: promote teamwork: understands and exceeds customer expectations.
#leadership Basic Qualifications: Experience Minimum of ten (10) years of progressive project management and consulting services experience; including at least three (3) years in health care.
Minimum five (5) years of management experience (including, but not limited to: disciplinary actions, training, employee development/ assessment, and wage and hour regulations) in a complex, multi-faceted health care setting and in working with a large physician group practice managing through influence and collaboration which includes three (3) years of experience in financial management, budget development, program development, quality improvement and project management.
Education Bachelors degree in Business Administration, Health Administration, Nursing, Public Health, or related field required OR four (4) years of experience in a directly related field.
High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) required.
License, Certification, Registration N/A Additional Requirements: Communication skills to interact effectively with Maui Healths current service/client base, prospective customers, and all levels of Maui Health management.
Preferred Qualifications: 10 years of Healthcare Experience preferred.
10 Years of Service Line leadership in Perioperative Services preferred.
Departmental leadership experience.
Masters Degree preferred or six (6) years of experience in a directly related field.
